The NEW Plan

All right, dear reader, I know I have gone on and on about my lack of “schedule”. But here’s the thing: “I have promises to keep, / And miles to go before I sleep.”

Without any further ado, the NEW PLAN is:

  • 29 April to 7 May: Trinidad (and/or Tobago)
  • 8 to 31 May: Colombia
  • June: Ecuador
  • July and August: Peru
  • September: Northern Chile and Northwestern Argentina
  • October: Mid-Chile – I will probably need to descansarme and hope to find a nice spot for the month
  • November: Southern Chile
  • December: the End of the World – speaking cartographically, not catastrophically – in Chile and Argentina and Antarctica, if I can stop being cheap for long enough to book the boat
  • January: Heading north in Argentina – Are you paying attention? We’re in 2015 now, dear reader
  • Remainder of January: Southern Bolivia – just a week or so to visit the salt flats in the rainy season
  • February and Part of March: the Guyanas – apparently the only decent time, weather-wise, to go
  • Remainder of March: I will probably need to descansarme again … somewhere …
  • April: Argentina – the bits in the North and Northeast, around Buenos Aires, that I missed
  • May: Uruguay
  • June: Brazil? – I may resort to the original plan of skipping this giant expensive country altogether, especially given the visa hullabaloo
  • July: Paraguay
  • August, September, and October: Bolivia – one gets to volunteer with pumas, dear reader, PUMAS!
  • November through the New Year (of 2016 now): Venezuela – hopefully things will have calmed down by this time

Then what? Oh, I’m so glad you asked, dear reader! The idea is this might be a great time to visit underhandedly a certain Caribbean island nation with a penchant for classic USA-made cars and convince a mechanic for the aforementioned cars to take me as an apprentice for a year. And then I’ll start my own reality show and become famous. Or go to Asia. I haven’t decided yet – who thinks that far into the future?!

Oh, like you've never changed a plan?
