There are, of course, a hundred-thousand blog posts listing the usually-heart-wrenching reasons family is important. And eventhough a closeness to family and friends can be difficult to maintain while traveling, advances in technology make it so much easier as long at least one party is willing to put in the work.

Back in the good ol’ USA, snow and ice are melting (and then falling again), cherry blossoms are blooming, people are packing away heavy winter gear: it’s Springtime.
I saw the same Blood Moon Eclipse as the USAers. The Earth rotates and revolves, time passes. But not much changes, weather-wise. Here, in San Gil, even the rainy season is dry. Is it Tuesday? Is it April? It is difficult to track the passage of time without seasonal change. This is why people washed up on deserted islands make hash marks on driftwood.
I never expected to feel nostalgia for snow and cold and winter.
