Week-End Wrap-Up

2014-May-26 to -29

Well I’m Southbound, baby, lord I’m comin’ home to you. (Part I)

  • Mon – 26 May:
    • San Agustín: Ate a leisurely breakfast and boarded the bus back to Popayán.
    • Popayán: Another lovely dinner at El Italiano (who is actually La Suiza) and a night to relax back in Popayán.

  • Tue – 27 May:
    • Popayán: Laundry and reading and planning, oh my! More chats with guests and staff at ParkLife Hostel and planning my exit to Ecuador.

  • Wed – 28 May:
    • Popayán: You know how when the bus schedule says it leaves at 7h30 but really it left at 7:15 and the bus that is supposed to leave at 7h40, with the company one is meant to avoid, leaves at 8h05? That’s just so you know you’re not in Germany or Japan or somewhere. But I got on the Transipiales bus finally and started the 9-hour journey toward the border.
    • Ipiales: Stayed the night at the place the Dutch lady warned me not to go. I thought it was fine – warm and clean and inexpensive and no hookers.

  • Thu – 29 May:
    • Ipiales: I thought I would be able to fit in breakfast, a trip to El Sanctuario de las Lajas, a conference call, a border crossing, a topiary-landscaped cemetery, and a bus to my hostal. Oh well, the sight-seeing wouldn’t have been so much fun in the rain anyway and three out of five ain’t bad. The border between Colombia and Ecuador is quite nice and SO QUICK =)

View the rest of the week, when I crossed into Ecuador.
